Mechanical Engineering Designer
We are seeking a Mid‑Level Mechanical Engineering Designer to strengthen our design team in Durban. This role suits an engineer who already has solid industry experience and is ready to take ownership of designs, manage technical data, and contribute meaningfully to product development and project delivery.
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform 2D and 3D CAD modelling using SolidWorks or similar CAD software
- Compile complete production packs for manufacturing
- Create, manage, and maintain accurate Bills of Material (BOMs)
- Contribute to product design and development, from concept to production
- Assist with project coordination and task management
- Develop and manage spreadsheet‑based engineering models
- Participate in Research and Development (R&D) activities
- Assist with weight distribution calculations and design validation
Key Requirements & Attributes
- 3–5 years’ experience in a mechanical design or engineering role
- Mechanical Engineering qualification
- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD package
- Experience or exposure to commercial vehicle or trailer design (advantageous)
- Understanding of HTM weight distribution principles
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of FEA or failure analysis (advantageous)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capability
- Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work with minimal supervision
